About

StichtingMoyza care was founded in 2014 by Dedan Owori a Ugandan  living in the Netherlands. “It is my family tradition to help and see others prosper and that is why me and my family started Bwibere Community Care Initiative in my village."  -Dedan. Even while living in the Netherlands, he still had the same passion, conviction and desire to continue helping his village in Uganda so he founded Moyza care and registered  it in 2018. Its sole purpose is to improve the lives of children who are orphaned by HIV aids and are being marginalized in the community.  Today, Moyza Care is led by   Dedan Owori (Founder/Chairperson), Hinke Van der Werf (Treasurer) and Thomas Pierik (Secretary) as board members. Our Programme

Our current education program in Eastern Uganda involves working together with the community to help the disadvantaged children, especially Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC), to access quality and relevant education by uplifting educational standards and improving their nutritional and health status so that they are able to complete a full course of pre-primary and primary schooling.
The aim  is to;

  •  Provide an enabling environment;
  • Care and protection to Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) such that they can realize their full potential in achieving their dreams and aspirations;
  •  To enable individual development and development of the community.

This programme is currently being implemented in Eastern Uganda in Bwibere Village – Nasenyi parish, Mugiti Sub County, Budaka District.The project currently provides:  Material support to 110 school children like scholastic materials, pre-school education in the school and nutritional support in form of mid-day meal to the children. We have a dedicated management team, two full time teachers and three volunteer workers. We are committed to developing skilled staff able to successfully achieve our goals and working with community leaders and other partner organizations for the same.

Our main focus are the activities mentioned (education, nutrition and medical support) above and this has left very little to no budget to carter for the physical infrastructure (classrooms). Since they have been constructed with traditional materials, the weather has affected the quality of the buildings to a point that it is no longer safe anymore to house the kids. This preempted a project to build a permanent classroom block even though it is outside our scope of budget.

Outcomes we want to achieve:

  1. Enabling children to reach their full potential by providing psychological, material and social support.
  2. Keeping families together in a community context.
  3. Establishing community-based projects and coordinating structures to ensure sustainability.
  4. Careful monitoring, evaluation and recording in order to facilitate replication.

We strongly believe that if these children are helped to access quality and relevant education, then they will receive a basic human right and most importantly they will have a rich and high-quality life, for them and their future generations.
